Every vehicle on UK roads must have an annual MOT test once it is 3 years old, and we carry out Class 1, 2 & 4 MOT testing, which includes most cars and light commercial vehicles, including classics (with up to 8 passenger seats), motorhomes and campervans, motorbikes, and mopeds. We have two testing lanes – one for two-wheeled vehicles, and the other for four-wheeled vehicles.

The whole exhaust system is examined thoroughly. It must be complete, secure, free of any leaks, and within legal noise limits. It is also checked to ensure it meets the permitted limits for exhaust emissions.
All pipes and hoses are checked to ensure they are in good condition and secure, and not leaking. The fuel cap must be fastened and sealed correctly.
All lights, both interior and exterior, are checked to make sure they operate and aim correctly. The main beam warning light must be in working order, and headlamps are checked for cleanliness, security, and self-levelling.

All bodywork is inspected to make sure it is free of corrosion or any damage, including any sharp edges which might cause injury.
Your vehicle’s bonnet will be inspected and tested to make sure it opens and closes as it should.
The boot and/or the tailgate will be inspected and tested to ensure it opens and closes correctly.
Brake system operation and performance will be inspected, and their overall condition examined. If relevant ABS (anti-lock) and ESC (electronic stability control) will be checked.
All doors are inspected. Front doors must open from both the inside and the outside of the vehicle. Rear doors must open from outside the vehicle. All hinges and catches will be examined to make sure they are in good condition, work properly, and are secure in their closed position.
The horn must be suitable for the vehicle and work correctly.
The minimum number of mirrors for the vehicle must be met. They must be clean, in good condition, and fixed securely to the vehicle. Indirect vision devices are also inspected.
Your registration plate must be clean, readable, and fixed appropriately and securely.
All seats must be present, and securely fitted, and the seat backs must be able to be fixed in an upright position and adjusted to suit different drivers.
All seatbelts must be present and suitable for the vehicle. They must be in good, working, condition and attached securely.

Any towbar must be securely and properly attached. The electrical socket must be fully operational.
All tyres and wheels, including any spares, are examined for condition, tread depth, appropriate sizing, and that they are attached to the vehicle properly.
Checked for condition overall; it must be free of any damage, and the driver must have a clear view of the road.
Windscreen wipers will be checked to make sure they work properly and the blades clean the windscreen effectively. The washer reservoir must have fluid in it and have an unobstructed route to the windscreen.
